Professional Voice

Professional voice users (singers, actors, and professional speakers), are a unique category of patients at ProVoice Center who often require specialized services. A singing voice specialist at ProVoice Center will conduct a singing or speaking voice evaluation for the injured vocal athlete. The ProVoice Center is the only voice center in the Tri-State region with a Ph.D. Voice Pathologist/Singing Voice Specialist with a BFA in Musical Theatre. As a voice pathologist and singing voice specialist, Dr. Wendy LeBorgne’s clinical work includes providing voice evaluations and therapy for singers and actors locally (Cincinnati Opera, Cincinnati Broadway Series, Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, Dayton Opera, Dayton Broadway Series, Wright State University, Cincinnati Conservatory of Music) and nationally (Broadway artists, Television, National Broadway Tours, Opera Companies throughout the USA). During a Singing Voice Evaluation, specific questions will be asked related to current vocal demands and performances, style of singing, and problems related to their singing/speaking voice. Then, a singing evaluation will be conducted to determine if there are any significant technical problems that may be contributing to the patient's voice disorder. Each singer will be asked to sing some vocal exercises, Happy Birthday, and a song of choice in the style they typically sing (pop, jazz, musical theatre, gospel, classical, etc). At the conclusion of the evaluation, the patient and singing voice specialist will discuss specific rehabilitative strategies providing the singer with options to maximize vocal efficiency during high performance demands. Singing voice teachers are always invited to participate in this evaluation process.

Should you have any specific questions regarding these services please feel free to contact: Wendy DeLeo LeBorgne, Ph.D., Voice Pathologist & Singing Voice Specialist.
